1 - AWESOME BASEBALL PRODUCT

Clean Fuego

Funny name, but one of the best, if not THE best product I’ve found to teach youngsters how to grip and release the baseball properly.

Shown below, the Clean Fuego is thrown just like a normal baseball and gives immediate feedback on proper release of the baseball by the amount of “wobble” on the ball.

Shown here, being used by Clayton Kershaw in warmups.

Head on over to their website, linked below, to learn all about Clean Fuego and how it can teach proper release of the baseball, which improves everything from velo to movement. Something that all ballplayers should have in their bag!

2 - GREAT BASEBALL VIDEOS

This weeks videos, how it’s made, we have two great ones for you. First, Jacob Walters, owner of JAW Bats makes the most incredible custom wood bats in the game. And next, behind the scenes in the factory that makes the MLB baseball.

3 - WORST BASEBALL TRADES

Cardinals Trade Adolis Garcia, Sandy Alcantara and Zac Gallen For Marcel Ozuna And Cash

The Cardinals take the top spot here given the recent success of the three named players. I won’t say this is the worst trade of all time, Babe Ruth being traded for cash is easily the worst trade ever. But, at one point these three were in the farm system together for the St. Louis Cardinals before being traded away over a couple years for Marcel Ozuna, who played two mediocre seasons in STL, and a lump of cash. An ALCS MVP in Garcia, the 2022 Cy Young winner in Alcantara and a perennial Cy Young candidate in Gallen. Ouch!

White Sox Trade Fernando Tatis Jr. To The Padres For James Shields

I will give the White Sox a little credit, Fernando was like 17 years old at the time. But James Shields was 35 and already passed his prime going 2-7 in the year he was traded to the White Sox. In his three years on the south side, he went 16-35 and a 5.3ERA. While Fernando went on to become one of the best and most popular players in the game.

White Sox Trade Sammy Sosa To The Cubs For George Bell

Say what you want about Slammin’ Sammy now, but he was the coolest thing in baseball for about half a decade. He had a 4 year stretch where he averaged 60 home runs a year. Steroids? Sure. But the rest of the league was on them too and they weren’t doing what Sammy did. In 1992 the Sox shipped Sammy from the south side to the north side for George Bell, who played two seasons before retiring. Meanwhile, Sosa played 13 seasons with the Cubs, slugging 545 homers and over 1,400 RBI’s.

Worst Trades Honorable Mention

  • Expos trade Pedro Martinez to Boston for Carl Pavano

  • Tigers trade John Smoltz to the Braves for Doyle Alexander

  • Expos trade Randy Johnson to the Mariners for Mark Langston

  • Red Sox trade Jeff Bagwell to Houston for Larry Anderson

2 - CAN’T MISS BASEBALL CLIPS

George W. throws out the first pitch in the 2023 World Series and “Never Forget” his 2001 World Series first pitch that he piped in for a strike with some nasty run.
