The Tools & Tactics Of Getting To The Next Level

Happy Thursday, Frens!
Let’s talk about the recruiting process.
There is so much at stake and so many players never get the chance they deserve.
Or worse, end up in a situation at a college that just wasn’t a good fit for them, leading to a bad experience.
The recruiting process is without a doubt, one of the trickiest things for players and parents to navigate.
Today, I want to share everything I know about this process and shed some light in hopes to help those that are either going through it, or will be going through it in the near future.
Let’s dive in.
The Tools & Tactics Of Getting To The Next Level
1) Be Recruitable
First and foremost - every player needs to put themselves in a position to actually be recruitable.
And this starts with your training regimen.
You need to look the part of a college athlete and pass the eye test.
It’s what I refer to my players as “the race to 180lbs” because this is about the bare minimum size for your typical player to compete at the next level.
So let’s put in the work to get there, quickly.
There are no shortcuts or tricks here…it’s simply getting in the gym, eating like an athlete, and work tirelessly on your game.
Get fast, get strong, throw hard, hit harder.
This is the foundation of getting recruited and the younger you can start building these habits, the sooner you can get to the appropriate size, the better chance you have of getting recruited to play at the next level.
2) Don’t Attend A Showcase Until You Are Showcase Ready
You all know how this works, you pay several hundred dollars to attend a Showcase where you run/throw/hit and your metrics (60yd dash-Exit velo-Arm velo) get put in to your player profile for the world to see.
Here’s the problem…these metrics remain in your profile until you attend another Showcase with that company, to get your metrics updated.
And unless you are frequently attending these Showcases, you will have outdated metrics in your profile within a matter of months. And now, those metrics don’t accurately reflect your current abilities.
It’s a bit of a disservice to the athlete in my opinion.
If you aren’t running 7.0 or less in the 60yd dash (depending on position), throwing 80+mph and hitting 80+mph, save the time and money and pass on these Showcases until you can hit those numbers.
When that time comes, attend the Showcase. But until then, save the time and put that money into training sessions instead.
3) Use QuestFit
This is the gold standard of player recruiting profiles.
There’s a few reasons for this in my opinion:
They are the only recruiting software that will verify your metrics on any given day without having to attend a Showcase.
They have a media tab that allows you to upload video directly from your phone like Instagram and Tiktok.
They have a college database of every baseball program in the country that features entire coaching staff contact info, previous seasons records, rosters and stats along with all school academic info.
They have a formula where you can insert your age, size and metrics and it tells you what level of college baseball you can expect to play at. They call it the QScore.
You can fill that out here, it’s a great tool: https://app.questfit.com/public-landing/qscore
They will send you an email with your QScore and info about how to set up your recruiting profile
And it’s all FREE!
Check them out here ==> Questfit.com
It’s critical that ballplayers keep their recruiting profiles up to date with data and metrics that reflect their current abilities.
The only cost effective and convenient way to do this that I have found is through QuestFit.
Chem em’ out - it’s my highest recommendation.
